Calm

Monday, July 30th, 2007

I will not rant today.
Lord knows I have some excellent reasons. Work was a mess. People assume I have some kind of freakin ESP that enables me to read their feeble thoughts, and my entire existence is based on fulfilling their every whim.
So, instead of posting on the idiots in Albany who can pass their pay raise, and little else, or the brilliant minds who think it’s a great idea to sell what, a few billion in arms to our friends in the middle east (See putting out the fire with gasoline), I will spend some time in quiet meditation so I can put these brilliant actions, or lack of, in perspective.
See you in the morning….

The Weekend

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Still recovering from that cold, so is the wife now.
Buffalo Smokehouse tonight, Garden Walk, cutting the damn lawn. That’s it.
Any big time stuff going on this weekend I should know about?

What is the most annoying thing you have to do this weekend?

Sad Politics

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

This is Griffin’s website. Stuff that’s years old, pretty much incoherent, reading the accomplishments tab was odd. I was expecting a list of his accomplishments.
Based on this, I feel safe in saying that Jimmy should just hang it up.
He’s not the powerhouse he once was, and it actually hurts to see this.

Bruno Wants a New Job

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I guess he isn’t happy with the job Cuomo did, so Bruno wants to do his own investigation. I guess as long as they are “investigating” each other, they don’t have to do any real work.
No wonder our state is a laughingstock.

Quick Hits on Politics

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

The Pundit runs. Hopefully his popularity out here in the ozone will translate into votes in the 4th district.

In the 10th, fellow blogger Rus Thompson is trying to unseat one term incumbent Michelle Ianello. With just one term behind her, I don’t see where she has had a chance to really have a record that people can love or hate. I haven’t seen a whole lot of negatives. Most know Rus for his Island toll stance. He will have to publicize more than that if he wants to get the mainland vote.

Driving through South Buffalo and West Seneca yesterday afternoon, all I saw were Jim Keane signs sprouting from lawns. Is he running unopposed, or is the other guy too cheap to buy signs? This one should prove to be pretty nasty. even the winner will be pretty bloodied up. Collins might be able to take this one.

Geek has gone to politics mode.
He would rather have tax reform than rebate (got my vote there), and he’s ready to look into the rock’em, sock’em watch your tires, get your sign off my lawn, world of Buffalo city politics. This will be good…

The Weekend

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Lets start off by saying I feel like crap. My coworker felt it was necessary to come in to work all week with a cold. Now I have it and I am pretty pissed about it. Luckily, I am the only one in the office today so I won’t be spreading it around myself.
Plans?
Of course the Canal Fest Craft Show tomorrow. Have to get my Hawkmoon soap, do the basket raffle thing while i’m there.
Grocery shopping. Due to last week’s festivities, I did not shop. We are out of bread, eggs, low on toilet paper, and a pile of other stuff.
Sit outside with my grill a smokin’. Paper in one hand, icy beverage in the other.
Howzabout you?

Oh yeah, if anyone has a need for a box of 50 leis, lemme know.

Donn Gets Desperate

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Do they actually pay him to write the same tired story every week? The desperation that hangs heavy in the air is his. He still doesn’t get it. Even Ewald says the “Heritage” tourism isn’t a savior anymore. This isn’t Boston, or Williamsburg. If he actually has an idea that will bring in money like BassPro will, then by the Lord Harry, let’s hear it!

Money for Nothing

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Looks like the Democratic primary candidates will be spending some big bucks. I think it a bit excessive, but then again I am one cheap SOB. So we will be seeing and hearing pricey ads telling us that Keane kisses babies while Clark eats them for breakfast, and vice versa.

In other breaking news, former Mayor Jimmy Griffin has filed to run for County Executive. He has no campign money, is not really considered a “spoiler”, let alone a contender. But when you’re retired, you need a hobby I guess…

Quick question - who do you think will put out the first truly tasteless attack ad?

Back to Normal

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Wedding is over. Reception is over. BOHW is over. I now have a month and a half of summer left with no taskings, no deadlines. Feels pretty weird.
Oh yeah. Luau went great, even with the rain. And so did the birthday, which was a non-event. Except for the cake:
flamingocake1.jpg
2′ long, Brownie cake with raspberry filling. Even though I could only eat a small piece, it was amazing. If anyone needs a cake for any occasion, Drop me a line. This woman is great!.
Anyhow, I will try to get more posting done, and come up with better content as well.
