Quick Thoughts

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Since I haven’t been able to come up with a decent post for a while, I’ll throw these out;
My biggest concern about the dems? HRC keeps it close, uses the super delegates to get the nod. And while Bubba wasn’t a bad chief, he has become a pretty bad joke on the campaign trail. If she wins, I can see him being the new “Billy Carter”.

Anyone else incredulous as hell over Dr. Willliams going to California to speak on Buffalo schools being used as a national role model? We’ll call it the “McKinley Model”. After the investigation is complete, we’ll see how many tours come his way…

Buffalo Homecoming kicks off this afternoon with a press conference at the Statler. The actual event is 26 - 29 June. Come out and celebrate Buffalo with us! There will be those who consider such events as being Pollyanna-esque in nature, but I would disagree. I am not stating there is a renaissance, but there are things to celebrate in the city. You accentuate what is good, and you work on the problems.

Not that I don’t truly love my job, but in 1 year, 4 months and 8 days I will be able to retire.
Good lord willing and the taxes don’t rise….

I’m pissed that Urban Denizen has folded. That guy had a talent, and some pretty intelligent, logical, fun to read stuff. Hopefully he will show up on the front page on occasion.
The plow just went by, so it’s time to start shovelling…

Happy Hours are BACK!!!

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

This just in from the fine folks that brought you Buffalo Old Home Week :

We are happy to announce that our Happy To Be Here Hours will resume this month at WJ Morrisseys (30 Mississippi, between Perry & South Park, behind HSBC Arena) in the Cobblestone District, on Monday, September 17 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. These events are where those of us who are fortunate enough to already be in Beautiful Buffalo come to celebrate all that is great about this town and come up with creative ways to address things that could be better. We’re a roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-the-job done group, and working together to make Buffalo even better is a great goal.

Our HTBH speaker this month is Dr. Mark Donnelly, the genius behind CulturalNiagara.com, Surfbuffalo.com, Where2When2.com, and countless other valuable Buffalo Niagara initiatives. He will shout over the din for 10 or 15 minutes to extol the virtues of Buffalo Niagara’s culturals and the opportunity that exists in this community – were we all to pull together. We should all be inspired by him to be personally responsible for making something terrific happen here! The $3.00 HTBH Special on Guinness, Jameson and Murphy’s, plus some tasty Irish Toasties, compliments of our host Dennis Brinkworth, ought to add to the convivial spirit! Please plan to join us.

I can’t make it, but I hope all of you will, and come back to tell me what a great time you had!!!
